Planting Days Upper Opihi Native restoration project, Burkes Pass

Saturday 30 Sept and Sunday 1 Oct 2023 from 10 am

2033 Fairlie Tekapo Highway. (1 km north of Burkes Pass Township. Flag up at the gate)

Come and see the Burkes Pass Heritage Trust's native riparian plantings on the Opihi. Most is 1 - 5 years old but there is some 30 year old bush too. While there you could plant a native, spread some mulch or place a plant protector.. or just have a look about. Stay as little or as long as you like.

The aim of the day is to start planting for 2023, placing protectors on plants and spreading wood chip around plants for mulch.

Bring a spade for planting, Bucket or wheel barrow to cart mulch, Gumboots to cross the stream would be good. Some lunch or some food to share would be helpful.
